I went to Seaton Acadamy from kindergarden to grade 4....It was a wonderful school, a stone mansion with 4 stories of elegance with beautiful grounds. The tall apartment building is now where my old school was. (I had a client in this building , she had a beautiful view! ) But, alas, my beautiful school with the huge fireplaces is gone. Time marches on....

A Springtime bike ride in Vancouver

It’s been grey, bleary and cold this past week in Vancouver, so when the sun peeked out for a brief moment today, we took our newly fixed up bikes out for a spin on the Stanley Park Seawall. With over 8.8 km (5.5 miles) of oceanfront trails, it was the perfect place to take them for a mid-afternoon ride.

Thursday, 27th May 2010
A 200 square foot billboard entirely covered with 22-c gold leaf has been unveiled in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The sign will adorn the entrance to the city's Granville Island - under 24-hour guard - until it is transported to the Science World interactive museum tomorrow (May 28th) , where it will form part of a new exhibition, Metro Vancouver reports.
Carson Ting of Rethink Communications, the firm behind the billboard, said that the gold leaf is worth between C$6,000 and C$7,000
It took master gilder Brian Dedora over a week to coat the sign using a 20-metre roll of gold foil.
Just 1.98 ounces of ultra-thin gold leaf covers the entire billboard, the site noted.
Indeed, the coating is so delicate that anyone thinking of helping themselves to a piece of genuine gold foil would be disappointed, Mr Ting said.
"[It] is so thin that if you tried to hack away at it, it would disintegrate into thin air," he added.
Science World is currently showing Gold Fever, a film that explores uses of the precious metal around the globe from a giant gold Buddha to the Royal Canadian Mint's collection of gold bars.
